Developed in collaboration with Lingotto, West Beat joins the group of hotspots in Nieuw-West and strengthens the concept of ‘Hop over the Ring’. West Beat is a complex that combines entrepreneurship with affordable housing for young global citizens. During the programming of the building’s functions, project ambassadors already started encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit and the emerging creative sector, rooted in Nieuw-West.
The dynamic that they generated will be facilitated in the core of the building: West Beat’s Super Space. We designed the base layer of the building with a sculptural form with large
arches that seemingly display the cultural activities that take place behind. Thanks to the construction of the arches, the floor space underneath remains open, which lends itself to flexible use; residents, visitors and entrepreneurs come together here for the workspaces, hospitality venues, exhibitions and concerts.
West Beat occupies the corner of the so-called Podium-location and is surrounded by two roads. Here Studioninedots has designed a building that fronts all sides, with apartments centred around a shared elevated courtyard. At a height of 45 metres, the north side of the complex sets the tone for the new profile of Lelylaan avenue.
